Our Admissions Process

We welcome enquiries from prospective parents, you are welcome to call the school office on, 0121 464 1038 or enquiry@courtfarmschool.co.uk

School admissions are controlled by Birmingham Local Authority (LA) and we advise parents to contact the LA with regards to admissions. Details of admission arrangements and relevant application dates can be found here.

If a child is four years old on or before 31st. August, then he/she may start school in the September of the same year.

Reception Admissions

If you live in Birmingham, you should receive information from your local authority (Birmingham City Council, Directorate of Children, Young People and Families) via post about how to start your child at school in Reception for September. You should apply online or return your completed preference form to Birmingham LA School Admissions and Pupil Placements. Please visit: http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/online-admissions

The oversubscription criteria are as follows:

· Looked after or previously looked after children.

· Siblings of current pupils who will still be on roll in September 2027.

· Children of permanent staff at Broadleaf Partnership Trust.

· Children who live nearest to the school by straight line measurement from the home address to a designated point on the school site.

Distance

Distances are calculated on the basis of a straight-line measurement between the applicant’s home address and the entrance to the school building. The Local Authority uses a computerised system, which measures all distances in metres. Ordnance Survey supply the co-ordinates that are used to plot an applicant’s home address and the address of the academy.

Here you will find details of school open sessions, and full details and dates for the admission process.

In-Year Applications

If you are looking to transfer your child to Court Farm Primary School, please complete and return the in-year application form which can be found here: Application for a change of school in-year

Nursery

We currently have places available in our school nursery for 3/4 year old’s. If you wish to apply for a place in our nursery please click here to download an application form. Alternately, paper copies are available from the school office.

We have places for 15 hours and 30 hours nursery timetables, which runs at the same time as the normal school opening hours. Unfortunately, we do not allow parents to pay for additional hours (top-up fees).

We enrol children the term after their 3rd birthday. Enrolment takes place at the beginning of the September term, January term and April (after Easter) term. For example, if your child turns 3 in November, they are able to start with us in the following January.

Our nursery is very popular and we have some parents who have added their child’s name to our waiting list when their child is just a few months old. To add your child’s name to our waiting list, please complete the form above and return it to the school office (additional proof of ID will be required).

All nursery children need to have an up to date signed provider agreement for funding purposes. These are available from the school office and will be discussed during enrolment.

Appeals

Appeals are coordinated by Birmingham Local Authority. Parents who wish to appeal against the decision of the Governors to refuse their child a place in the school should contact Birmingham Local Authority to request an appeal form.

Appeals will be heard by an independent panel. For further guidance and to find an appeal form please visit here
