In the last week of half term, Court Farm took part in No Pens Day 2026, a nationwide initiative led by Speech and Language UK. The day encourages children to focus on speaking, listening, and communication rather than writing.
Throughout the day, pupils put aside their pens and pencils and engaged in a variety of exciting activities designed to develop their oracy skills, teamwork, and confidence. Children communicated through speech, as well as using signs, symbols, visuals, and technology, ensuring that everyone could take part in a way that suited them best.
No Pens Day is an important reminder that communication is key to learning and social interaction. In the UK, around 1 in 5 children experience challenges with speech, language, and communication, which can impact their ability to access the curriculum and connect with others.
By celebrating this day, we aim to raise awareness and ensure that every child feels heard, valued, and included within our school community.
